Land Between The Lakes features events throughout the year, especially during the spring, summer and fall seasons. During the winter months, LBL has eagle viewing tours, both on land and water, which are quite popular among wildlife-viewing enthusiasts.

Secrets of Survival Backyard Safari

Leatherworking

In the 1850s, leather was a staple good that was used to make sturdy shoes, saddles, bags, and even hinges on your windows in a pinch. Although leather can last a very long time, it still occasionally needs to be replaced, maintained, repaired - or even turned into something to sell. Come out and learn about leatherworking here on the farm.

Quill & Ink

The quill pen was used to sign the Declaration of Independence, but did people in the 1850s still use quills as pens? Steel pens had been invented, but there was still a lot to be learned before they would take over. Come on out and try your hand at writing with one of our chicken or duck feathers! Don’t worry, the ink will come off of your fingers... Eventually!

It's Hammer time at the 1850's farm! We will be demonstrating historical methods of blacksmithing on a bellows operated charcoal forge. Learn about metallurgy during the mid-1800's and explore how a farmer would repair and replace broken and damaged tools.

How do you turn a tangle of yarn into lasting works of woven art? Bed coverlets, clothing, sacks, even wagon covers were created on the farm loom. The unique patterns and pieces that came off of a family loom would have been handed down for generations, sometimes used until they couldn't anymore.
